This year's event was no exception, with manufacturers and designers exploring how workplaces can better support flexibility, well-being, connection, and individual expression.

A Return to Rich, Expressive Color

One of the most noticeable trends across showrooms was the use of immersive color palettes and color washing, the practice of layering a single-color family throughout a space to create a cohesive and emotionally engaging environment.

Designers embraced rich, saturated hues that felt both nostalgic and fresh. Deep greens, warm terracottas, golden ochres, and vibrant blues echoed the bold design sensibilities of the 1960s and 70s while bringing a renewed sense of personality to modern workplaces. Rather than relying on neutral palettes alone, manufacturers showcased how color can be used strategically to foster creativity, comfort, and connection.

MillerKnoll Highlights Innovation and Adaptability

Among the many showrooms our team visited, MillerKnoll stood out for its continued focus on innovation and workplace evolution.

A notable highlight was the introduction of two new colorways, Jasper and Nightfall, for the iconic Aeron Chair. Long recognized as one of the most influential task chairs in modern workplace design, Aeron continues to evolve alongside changing aesthetic preferences. The new color offerings provide organizations with additional opportunities to express brand identity and create environments that feel both elevated and personal while maintaining the performance and ergonomic excellence that have defined the chair for decades.

MillerKnoll also placed significant emphasis on its Dividends Skyline System, presenting it as a holistic solution for the evolving workplace. As organizations continue to rethink how employees interact with their environments, adaptable systems have become increasingly important. Dividends Skyline demonstrates how integrated workplace solutions can support a variety of work modes, from focused individual tasks to collaborative team engagement, while maintaining flexibility for future growth and change.

"NeoCon 2026 showcased the power of thoughtful ancillary design and human-centered workplaces. The industry's focus on flexibility, wellness, and hospitality-inspired environments continues to redefine what great workspaces can be. My personal favorite showroom we visited was Geiger. The sophistication, mixed materials and ambience made their space warm, and inviting for intentional conversation."

The Workplace as an Ecosystem

Perhaps the strongest takeaway from NeoCon 2026 was the industry's shift away from designing for a single way of working. Today's workplace must support a diverse range of experiences, offering employees the ability to choose how and where they work throughout the day.

The products and solutions showcased throughout NeoCon reflected this evolution, emphasizing adaptability, user choice, and environments that foster both productivity and connection. Whether through thoughtful use of color, flexible planning systems, or innovative furniture solutions, manufacturers are creating spaces that respond to the changing needs of organizations and their people.

As we bring these insights back to our clients, we remain focused on creating workplaces that balance timeless design principles with emerging trends, creating spaces that inspire, support, and evolve alongside the people who use them.
