Sustainability at Workscapes

At Workscapes, sustainability is not a single solution or product—it’s a series of decisions made throughout the design and delivery of a space.

Because we do not manufacture products, our role is to help clients make informed choices. We focus on transparency, material awareness, and long-term performance so each project can align with its own environmental goals.

Designing with Intention. Delivering with Purpose.

The spaces we create shape how people work, feel, and connect every day. They also carry a responsibility beyond the walls themselves.

At Workscapes, sustainability is part of how we plan, design, and deliver each project. It begins with deliberate choices around materials, trusted partners, and how a space will perform over time.

Because each decision has an impact, we help clients create spaces that are built to last and adapt over time. That means prioritizing reuse where possible, selecting durable materials, and designing environments made to evolve over time.

We believe the most sustainable space is not simply the newest one. It’s the one designed to last.

Curating the Right Partners

The environments we create are influenced by the partners we work with, which is why we are intentional about who we align with.

We collaborate with manufacturers who share a commitment to improving how products are designed and made. This includes greater transparency, ongoing material innovation, and efforts to reduce environmental impact across the product lifecycle.

We prioritize partners who:

  • Provide clear information about materials and processes
  • Design for durability and adaptability
  • Incorporate responsible manufacturing practices, including energy use
  • Demonstrate ongoing improvement over time

These partnerships allow us to offer well-informed options and support more responsible decisions within each project.

As a Certified MillerKnoll Dealer, we are proud to align with a partner that not only leads in design but in responsibility.

MillerKnoll’s EcoVadis Gold Medal rating places them among the top 5% of companies globally for sustainability performance.

A New Approach to Product Development

Across the industry, we’re seeing a shift in how products are developed. In addition to performance and aesthetics, manufacturers are placing greater focus on materials, sourcing, and what happens at the end of a product’s life. They’re asking:

  • What is it made from?
  • Where do those materials come from?
  • What happens at the end of its life?

This shift is driving real innovation.

Take the Aeron Chair. A benchmark in workplace design. Today, it’s made with more than 50% recycled materials, including ocean-bound plastic—helping divert waste from our oceans while maintaining the performance it’s known for.

Or the Eames Shell Chair, a timeless design that has been reimagined using 100% recycled plastic, reducing its carbon impact without compromising its legacy.

These aren’t just product updates. They’re proof that great design can evolve responsibly. And they allow us to bring that evolution directly into the environments we create.

Materials with a Purpose

We believe materials should contribute to a better outcome, not just meet a specification.

That’s why we look for opportunities to incorporate materials that reduce waste, improve performance, and support a more circular future. Sometimes that means thinking differently.

For example, DIRTT incorporates post-consumer textiles, such as recycled denim, into their wall systems that support acoustics and jobsite efficiency while extending the life of existing materials.

It also means working with manufacturers that integrate recycled content into their products at scale, particularly in categories like tile and flooring where material recovery and reuse are part of ongoing production.

By focusing on how materials are sourced, used, and reused, we can offer options that support more informed and responsible project decisions.

A Shared Responsibility

We know sustainability is not a finish line. It’s an ongoing process. But we also know that meaningful impact comes from consistent, intentional decisions.

At Workscapes, we’re committed to:

  • Asking better questions
  • Choosing better partners
  • Designing environments that do more

Because the environments we create today will shape how people, and the planet, thrive tomorrow.
